Learning Lab
COMPUTER USE
The Learning Lab is equipped with over 40 computers loaded with
programs designed to complement the CFCC curriculum,
including Office 97, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Access, Excel, and
Microsoft Publisher. All computers provide instant access to the Internet.
To assist with CFCC academic courses, the Learning Lab offers
computer-assisted instruction in English, Foreign Languages,
Business, Keyboarding, Allied Health Programs, and many others. Some of
the many software programs available for student use include
Dasher Spanish, Express Yourself in Spanish, French and German programs, Basic Math, Algebra
and Trigonometry, Interactive Calculus, Geometry, Merit Guides for Writing, St. Martin's Guide to
Writing, Ten Steps to Better Writing, and various basic and intermediate grammar skills programs.

Physically challenged students can use the Learning Lab's Kurzweil software to scan text and have it read back to them on a large screen monitor. Soon the Lab will be adding Dragon Dictate Software. This software requires training with a staff member but will enable students with physical disabilities to read text into a microphone and have that appear on screen. The text can then be saved into a document.
