Reading/Writing Tutoring

Welcome to the Online Learning Lab. The online tutoring service is a convenient and effective way of providing the necessary tutoring help and assistance to students enrolled in courses requiring reading and writing. The online tutoring service is free and available to all CFCC students enrolled in Distance Learning classes and regular classes. The Learning Lab (Lab) provides tutoring services via the Internet (Blackboard) and e-mail.

Please remember that tutoring is a support service and not a substitute for classroom instruction. Every effort will be made to accommodate student requests. However, there may be circumstances (schedule conflicts, availability of tutors) which limit or delay the availability of tutoring services. Tutoring will take place during regular Lab hours, please check schedules for hours.

Guidelines

1. Complete Tutor Request Form
   You must complete the form every semester. The form needs to be completed only once; however, if you need help in more than two courses, you must complete a second form. For subsequent help on a course, please go directly to Guideline 2.
2. Complete Submission Form
   It is important that you give the facilitators/tutors as much information about your assignment as possible. The form will also enable you to attach your paper for assistance. This form has to be submitted for each assignment (only one at a time). For subsequent assignments please access the forms from the panel at the top of the page.
3. For live chat/discussion with a tutor, please be sure to complete the relevant section of the Submission Form. A tutor will contact you with instructions.
4. A tutor will provide feedback within one to two schooldays
   If you need assistance sooner than that, face-to-face tutoring assistance is available in the Learning Lab (both Campuses), on a walk-in basis or by appointment. Please check schedules.
5. Other important guidelines
   Tutors will not edit your paper (correct it for you)
   Tutors will not proofread your paper (mark all errors)

Logging In

To access our Online Learning Lab, please click here. At the next screen, click on Login and then type in the username and password. Then click on Learning Lab English or Learning Lab Math or Accounting. First, read the instructions on using the tutoring service.
