Finding journals, magazines, and other periodicals in the CFCC Library

The three major types of periodicals are newspapers, magazines, and journals. Periodicals are important sources of both primary and secondary information and contain useful information for most research papers and projects. The standard tool for finding or identifying articles on a particular topic is the periodical index. Periodical indexes usually cover a wide range of subject areas or disciplines (interdisciplinary) or they are very specific to a particular subject or discipline. The Reader's Guide is an example of a general index covering a number of periodicals on a variety of subjects. The New York Times index is a specialized index covering only the New York Times newspaper. Both of these indexes are in printed format and can be found in the Reference Area of the CFCC Library.
Many periodical indexes are also available in electronic format or online. A number of these periodical databases are available to CFCC students, faculty, and staff through
NC Live. NC Live can be accessed from any computer on campus and also remotely. You will need to use your CFCC Campus Cruiser login to access NC Live from any off-campus computer.
