Author Tim O’Brien made an appearance in the Wilmington Campus Library today to tour the Library’s “The Things They Carried” exhibit. The exhibit features items on loan from student and employee veterans. The items represent things that they carried or wore during their military service.

“The Things They Carried” exhibit is one of a series of events surrounding The Big Read Greater Wilmington’s current community read, The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. In addition to touring the Library’s exhibit, author O’Brien also joined Storyforce veteran writers and their mentors for breakfast. This evening, at 7:00 p.m., O’Brien will be delivering a keynote lecture at Kenan Auditorium on the UNCW campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The Cape Fear Community College Library is pleased to be a Big Read Greater Wilmington partner.
