eBook Collections
ABC CLIO eBook Collection (formerly Greenwood Digital Collection) -- Includes more than 3,500 titles -- encyclopedias, biographies, dictionaries, and primary documents. About 25 percent of the titles are reference and cover a variety of topics and fields in more than 24 subject areas. Users can browse the collection by title, subject, or author or perform a quick or advanced search of the entire collection, subject area, or an individual title.
eBook Collection (EBSCOhost) -- Thousands of full text reference and scholarly ebooks.
Gale Virtual Reference Library -- Twenty-three electronic versions of reference works covering various subjects.
LearningExpress Library eBook collection -- LearningExpress provides searchable career guides, study aides, and test-preparation books to help people prepare for high-stakes tests; to pass licensing, certification, or competitive entry-level exams; or to advance in school or professionally.
MyiLibrary (Ingram) -- MyiLibrary is an electronic platform that offers library users access to some of the most topical and current e-books available today. Users can access a wide range of research, reference and reading materials online from any location. Users can search across many e-books or conduct searches within a particular e-book.
NC Live eBook Portal -- With over 20,000 eBooks spread across six different collections, it can sometimes be difficult for users to explore all of the eBooks NC LIVE has to offer. The new NC LIVE eBooks Portal makes it easier for users to search across the eBook collections, and to explore individual collections that might interest them. The eBooks Portal gives users easy access to: eBooks on EBSCOhost (24,600 titles): includes titles in Literature, Technology, Career & Self Help, how-to books, and more. ABC-CLIO (200 titles): includes titles in History, Literature, and more. MyiLibrary eBooks (370 titles, approximately 100 are downloadable): includes titles in History, the Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, and more. Learning Express Library (194 titles): eBooks on career development topics, test prep, and personal development.
Springer eBooks -- (FREE Trial) Access to more than 24,000 eBook titles. Please note that titles are divided into twelve subject collections ranging from Behavioral Science to Professional and Applied Computing.The trial includes access to all English/International language content from 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 as well as book series dating back to 1997.
eVideo Collections
American History in Video (Alexander Street Press) -- provides the largest and richest online collection of videos available for the study of American history. Documentaries from key partner The History Channel, Bullfrog Films, PBS (forthcoming), WGBH (forthcoming), California Newsreel (forthcoming), and others provide long-term perspectives on historical events, historical people, and key turning points in American history.
Consumer Health Complete (EBSCOhost). EBSCO added 2,286 Health Daily videos from NBC Digital Health Network to the Medical Video & Animation Collection, which is part of Consumer Health Complete. These videos were added at no additional charge. The videos are available on both interfaces that support the database: the CHC interface and EBSCOhost. The Health Daily feed provides health/wellness, lifestyle and condition-specific news clips with an average length of 1.5 minutes. Each week NBC adds from 40-50 new, broadcast-quality clips. This brings the total of videos and animations currently available on Consumer Health Complete to 3,379.
Life Science Area Videos -- (Virginia Commonwealth University) 50 free videos and lesson plans from VCU Life Sciences.
Nursing Education in Video (Alexander Street Press) -- a unique online collection of videos created specifically for the education and training of nurses, nursing assistants, and other healthcare workers.
PBS Video (NC Live) -- A selection of nearly 250 PBS programs, including films from award winning documentarian Ken Burns, and series such as Scientific American Frontiers, American Experience, and Frontline. These videos are available using video stream and require Adobe Flash Player Version 9.0 or higher.
