Please share your experience! The American Association of Community Colleges is pleased to announce the new web-based Minority Male Student Success Database (MMSSD). This just-launched interactive database highlights community college programs, initiatives, and strategic plans that focus on minority male mentoring, recruitment, persistence, and completion. AACC encourages member colleges to upload descriptive profiles of their own activities related to minority male student success. If your college has a program of this nature, join the pilot colleges that already have submitted information and make this database a useful tool for others while showcasing your own commitment to minority male success. To enter your information, first complete an initial sign-in process. Then click here to access the database, review the guidelines, and submit your program profile.

Higher Education: Tuition Continues to Rise, but Patterns Vary by Institution Type, Enrollment, and EducationalExpenditures.

Higher education has increasingly become critical to our nation's cultural, social, and economic well-being, with 90 percent of the fastest-growing jobs in the knowledge economy requiring some postsecondary education. While a college graduate can expect to earn, on average, approximately $1 million more over the course of his or her working life than those with a high school diploma, most students and their families can expect to pay more on average for college than they did just a year ago. Moreover, many are concerned that the increases in the cost of college may be discouraging large numbers of individuals, particularly minority and low-income individuals, from pursuing higher education. The topic of college affordability continues to be an issue of great concern.
