New Hanover County Commissioners recently selected Jimmy Hopkins to serve on the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees for a four-year term. Hopkins, a broker at Intracoastal Realty, previously served on CFCC’s Board of Trustees. His community involvement includes serving on the Coastal Horizons Center Board of Trustees, chair of the Historic Preservation Committee for the City of Wilmington, Executive Committee member for the Cape Fear Home Builders Association, and the City of Wilmington’s Vision 20/20 Committee.

In addition to Hopkins’ appointment, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory reappointed Louis Burney, Jr. to another four-year term on CFCC’s Board of Trustees. Burney, First Vice President at Morgan Stanley, has served on the board since 2004. He is a member of the USS North Carolina Commissioning Committee, a former trustee of the Cape Fear Museum, and a former treasurer for the Airlie Gardens Foundation Board.

Colonel John Melia was selected by the New Hanover County Board of Education to serve a four-year term. Colonel Melia retired from active duty after nearly 36 years of continuous service, as the Assistant Chief of Staff, US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia. He is a former Senior Army Instructor at North Brunswick High School and has served on the CFCC Board of Trustees since 2014.
