Directing Students to Help Resources

May 5th, 2014 by Rob Coyle

In order to help students help themselves, and to empower students with the information and resources they need for academic success, Online Learning recommends providing students with the follow Help Resources:

  1. Technical Help
  2. Academic Support Services
  3. Student Support Services
  4. Disability Services
  5. Publisher Technical Support (ex: MyLabs), when applicable

It is important that students can access up-to-date information easily from within the Blackboard course site, but also offline in case Blackboard isn’t accessible. In addition to providing Help information on the Course Syllabus, a separate ‘Help’ section should be created as a Content Area on the Blackboard Course Menu. (Example Course Menu showing a Help Section.)

To aid instructors in providing students with the myriad of resources available, and to help ensure accurate and up to date information, Online Learning has developed a webpage that instructors can provide to their students. The Student Support page is available at http://cfcc.edu/online/student-support. Feel free to setup your Course Menu with a Help section that is a Web Link to this page.

If you need assistance setting up a Help Section or have question, contact Online Learning.
