Ignoring an Attempt VS Clearing an Attempt

April 21st, 2014 by Brantley McKeithan

If you have a student that needs to resubmit an assignment or test you have two options in the Grade Center: Ignore and Clear an attempt.  Locate the assignment in the “Full Grade Center.”  Click the chevron (drop down arrow) next to the student’s attempt and select “View Grade Details.”  Next to each attempt you will see these two options:

  • Clear Attempt will delete the grade, submitted files and submission date.
  • Ignore Attempt will ignore the grade from Grade Center calculations, but will retain a record of all submitted files and grades.

Online Learning recommends using the Ignore Attempt feature.  This will still give the student another opportunity to resubmit, but preserve the information from the original attempt in case it is needed later.
