BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING

Certificate Program

COLLEGE RULES AND POLICIES

Cape Fear Community College has established student expectations, rights, and responsibilities that are necessary to effectively carry out Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET). These are outlined in the CFCC Student Handbook available to all students. In addition, there are certain rules and expectations specifically applicable to BLET.

Any Basic Law Enforcement Training student not in possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License at the time of orientation will not be permitted to remain enrolled.

An unexcused absence occurs when a student fails to show up for class without notifying the School Director. There are no provisions to make up an unexcused absence. Such an absence will be considered a deficiency in that subject which will not allow a student to graduate or take the state examination.

Anyone arriving late for class (regardless of the reason) will be considered tardy. Students who are repeatedly tardy will be dismissed from class. Tardy students will make up the portion missed at the discretion of the school director with approval of the instructor.

Absences because of extenuating circumstances may be allowed by the School Director. Any subject area missed due to absence will be made up.

All students will be in the uniform of the day, seated, and prepared to start class at the scheduled times. Cheating, sleeping, and dozing in class is not tolerated. Assignments are to be completed at the designated time.

Conduct yourself as a responsible adult. This includes being courteous and respectful to the instructors, school supervisors, visitors, and to your peers in class. The instructor reserves the right to assigned seats at any time.

Physical Fitness Training instructor of record will be the final P.O.P.A.T. instructor. Students missing Physical Fitness Training will make up the sessions as prescribed by the director.

Limit the use of the BLET lobby phone to two minutes. Use of BLET office phones is only permitted in exceptional or emergency situations and with the approval of the School Director. All other office phones are off limits.

Firearms, ammunition, and knives are not allowed in class unless authorized by the instructor.

The use of tobacco products in class is prohibited. These products may only be used in designated areas during breaks periods. No food is to be consumed during class sessions. Drinks are allowed unless prohibited by the instructor.

Students are to park in only designated areas!

Students are expected to keep the classroom neat and clean. Activities that can mar or damage walls or furniture are prohibited. Furniture or walls are not to be used as footrests.

USE OF COPIER IS RESTRICTED TO STAFF AND INSTRUCTORS.

ALL RULES/POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AS LISTED IN CAPE FEAR COMMUNITY COLLEGE'S STUDENT HANDBOOK ARE INCLUDED.
