The Machining Technology curriculum at CFCC is a two year associate's degree program that trains individuals for positions in manufacturing ranging from machine operator to computer aided manufacturing (CAM) technician. CFCC's Machining Technology program has been a leader in the training of technicians for southeastern North Carolina for over 20 years. Successful graduates have found employment with companies such as General Electric, Interroll, Efson, American Crane Corporation, and many other plants in and around Wilmington. The Machining Technology curriculum is designed to develop skills in the theory and safe use of hand tools, power machinery, computerized equipment and sophisticated precision inspection instruments.

Students will learn to interpret blueprints, set up manual and CNC machines, perform basic and advanced machining operations and make decisions to insure that work quality is maintained.

Employment opportunities for machining technicians exist in manufacturing industries, public institutions, governmental agencies and in a wide range of specialty machining job shops
