Beam Reach – Marine Field Research (Whale Internship)

Is Beam Reach for you?

Yes, if you are an undergraduate and you want to:

· study endangered orcas in the wild from a hybrid sailboat
· work with experts in killer whale conservation and acoustics
· design your own research project at Friday Harbor Labs
· learn about marine conservation and sustainability
· sail on a biodiesel electric catamaran
· explore the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest
· learn in a small group and get a lot of individual time with instructors
· earn 18 credits from the University of Washington
· gain confidence in your major and career choice

You don’t have to be a science major to apply; you just have to be interested in the marine environment and want to have a 10 week off campus adventure.
