Key duties/responsibilities include:
- Update and maintain Lab storage areas and inventories.
- Plan and conduct field collection trips with and without water craft.
- Daily rounds maintaining water quality and feeding marine animals in aquaria and other experimental holding facilities
- Assist in routine maintenance of small boats and field equipment
- Support researchers in processing samples and experiments
- Organize and input data into a database, maintain accurate detailed records of experiments, observations, measurements and results.
- Prepare samples, mix reagents, make measurements, record and analyze data
- Use and maintain analytical instruments
- Maintain inventory
- Hookup, tow, launch and operate small vessels
- Collecting specimens in the field under the current weather conditions as required.
- Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability/skills in communication.
- Strong Interpersonal and communications skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities.
- Knowledge of Sea Water Systems and pumps.
- Able to work in a Team Environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in operating small boats 25 ft. or less.
- Ability to follow safety standards and conduct work in an environmentally conscientious manner
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some long days and infrequently on weekends
- A valid Maryland drivers license and experience in towing boats.
- Experience with basic computer programs such as excel and word.
- Ability to be flexible in responding to changes in schedules and job priorities
All government equipment, including vehicles, boats, computers, telephone access, etc is to be used to accomplish official government business only.
