First Responder Academy
NEXT ACADEMY BEGINS JANUARY 28, 2019
This academy is a comprehensive program which includes Firefighting I & II, Haz-Mat, Basic EMT, Emergency Vehicle Driving, Mayday/Safety and Survival skills and other vital information necessary for future firefighters. NEW ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST RESPONDER ACADEMY
Effective January 1, 2019 all students enrolling in the First Responder Academy taught under continuing education will require an Accuplacer English Placement Test indicating placement into ENGLISH 111 OR an official college transcript showing successful completion of ENG 111 within the past 5 years will be accepted. CFCC ACADEMY UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:
Cape Fear Community College First Responder Academy students are required to be in Academy uniform. This uniform consists of:
Black Shoes, Blue or Black BDU style pants, Gray Academy T-Shirt and/or Gray Academy sweatshirt depending on weather. Uniform should be kept neat and clean for all classes. Shirts and Sweatshirts may be purchased at the CFCC bookstore in the McKeithan Center. See picture below:
Before classes begin students must purchase Essentials of Firefighting-6th edition (ISBN 978-0-87939-509-4, IFSTA# 36922, approximately $74.00) and the course workbook (ISBN 978-0-87939-512-4, IFSTA# 36925, approximately $37.00). Both are available in the CFCC bookstore or online.
