Two commencement ceremonies are held each academic year, in May, for our May and December graduates and in Summer for our August graduates. Please check the Academic Calendar for exact dates and times. Ceremonies are currently held in the Wilson Humanities and Fine Arts Center.
Orders for caps, gowns and class rings will be accepted by a company representative during announced dates through the College Bookstore. Students who anticipate graduating at the close of Spring or Summer academic sessions will be provided a limited number of commencement tickets. Students completing graduation requirements at the close of the Fall academic session will be invited to participate in the May ceremony.
Students do not receive their diplomas at commencement. Once all final grades are in, a re-evaluation of each student’s program evaluation is done to confirm graduation. Degrees are posted to the official transcript within one week of Commencement. Diplomas will be mailed approximately 6 weeks after graduation to the student’s address on file.
Candidates for graduation must file an “Intent to Graduate” form and complete the Graduating Student Opinion Survey with the Records and Registration office by published deadlines. For Spring graduation, the deadline is in March, the Summer graduation deadline is in June, and the Fall graduation deadline is in November of each year. Please check the Academic Calendar for specific deadline dates.
Intent to Graduate forms are submitted when you and your advisor feel that you are within 1 to 2 semesters of completing your program course requirements. A separate Intent form must be completed for each degree, diploma, or certificate you are completing. A confirmation email will be sent to your CFCC email account within 2 business days of receipt of this Intent in our office. An evaluation of your Intent will be mailed to you within 1-2 weeks explaining your status and listing any course needs.
You are required to submit a Graduating Student Opinion Survey, then you will be able to fill out the Intent to Graduate form. If you are applying for more than one diploma, certificate, and/or degree in the same term, you only need to fill out the opinion survey one time.
Upon graduation, a student’s eligibility for financial aid and veteran’s benefits will end. Therefore, students must contact the Financial Aid and counseling offices if they plan to continue enrollment and receive aid in another program beyond graduation.
The survey and application can take about 15 minutes to complete, please make sure you have that much time available before clicking the link below.
Deadlines to file Intent to Graduate:
- November 1st to graduate in Fall 2019
- March 20th to graduate in Spring 2020
Do not click the web browser’s ‘Back’ button, or you will have to start over from the beginning.
Students have access to their Program Evaluation through their Student Planning or WebAdvisor account. The Program Evaluation is a degree audit which is a tool for tracking graduation progress based on the student’s catalog of record. Students, advisors, and counselors can follow progress towards completion of a degree, diploma or certificate. Students can also use the system for “what if” scenarios when considering changing majors. This feature will reconfigure the courses a student has already taken and apply them to the “what-if” program requirements. Detailed instructions on using the Program Evaluation tool can be found in the Web Registration for Student Guide.
