Registration Information

Current Students

Currently enrolled students register each semester for the upcoming semester during the early registration period. Students receive an email through their myCFCC email account with specific instructions regarding registration, including their priority day and time and their advisor’s name and location. Early registration for the Fall and Summer semesters occurs in April.  Early registration for Spring occurs in October. Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods.

Priority dates and times are assigned based on the student’s major and total earned hours at CFCC as of the current semester.

Registration is an on-line process through the student’s WebAdvisor account. Tutorials on How to Register are available through your myCFCC Help tab or access the Web Registration Guide for Students for step-by-step instructions.  Students will receive a confirmation email once they have registered online.  The email will contain important payment, refund and attendance  information.

Registration occurs immediately prior to each term according to the schedule in the Academic Calendar. New and returning students who are not currently enrolled in classes will register after priority registration ends.

Students may take up to 18 hours without special permission during the Fall and Spring semesters. Students must seek special permission from the Registrar to carry an overload of semester hours.  Overload requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.0 in completed courses.

Payment is due at the time of registration.

New Students

New students must be accepted to CFCC before they are eligible to register.    Registration information will be mailed with your acceptance letter.  Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

New students are required to attend an orientation session either in person or online. During the in person orientation, students will meet with an advisor, establish the correct courses they need for their program of study, and have the opportunity to register early. New students will also be given all the information they need to be successful at CFCC. Find more information on orientation on the Orientation page.

Please note that if you are transferring from another school, late receipt of your transcripts may not allow sufficient time to get your transcripts evaluated for necessary pre-requisites and could delay your registration into certain courses. New students should have all transcripts delivered to CFCC at least two weeks prior to any registration period.

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration.

Returning Students

Re-Admission of Curriculum Students:

Students (including CFCC graduates) returning to CFCC who have not been enrolled for one (1) or more academic years must submit a new admissions application. If you have had a period of non-enrollment, you may be required to complete the Residency Determination Service Application. This application determines if you will pay in-state or out-of-state tuition and is mandated by the State of North Carolina via the Residency Determination Service Office. Special Credit Students

Students who are 18 years of age or older or have a high school diploma or equivalent but do not wish to enter degree or diploma programs may enter CFCC as “special credit” students. Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Students admitted as special credit students may carry only a part-time course load.  Special credit students may register part-time (no more than eleven (11) credit hours) in any given semester and no more than eight (8) credit hours during the Summer Session.  Special Credit students may accumulate a total of eighteen (18) credit hours before being required to meet all admission requirements. Special Credit students must meet all course pre-requisites.

Audit Students

Students who wish to audit courses must register for the audit by following the regular registration procedures and indicating in writing on an audit form which course(s) they are auditing. Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods. Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Auditing students must meet all course pre-requisites. The audit form, available in the Registrar’s office,  must be signed by the instructor and turned into the Registration and Records Office during the first week of the semester. Auditing students receive no credit and are not required to participate in class discussion or take tests. Fees for audit courses are the same as those taken for credit. Changes from audit to credit or credit to audit may only be done during registration and drop/add periods. Students should be aware that Financial Aid and Veteran benefits do not pay for audit courses. Audit courses do not transfer.

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration.

Faculty and Staff

Employees of CFCC must complete the Admissions process and be admitted to CFCC prior to registering for any courses. Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Employees no longer need to register in the Records and Registration Office. Employees may now register through WEB Advisor. See the Registration Guide if you need assistance.  Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods.

Employees are responsible for any charges beyond the tuition benefit given to CFCC employees.  The tuition benefit must be approved by your supervisor.  These charges are payable at the time of registration.
