Current Students

Currently enrolled students register each semester for the upcoming semester during the early registration period.  Students receive an email through their CampusCruiser email account with specific instructions regarding registration, including their priority day and time, their advisor’s name and location.   Early registration for the Fall and Summer semesters occurs in April.  Early registration for Spring occurs in October.  Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods.

Priority dates and times are assigned based on the student’s major and total earned hours as of the current semester.

Registration is an on-line process through the student’s WebAdvisor account.  Access the Web Registration Guide for Students for step-by-step instructions.  Students will receive a confirmation email once they have registered online.  The email will contain important payment, refund and attendance  information.

Registration occurs immediately prior to each term according to the schedule in the Academic Calendar. This process is for students who did not early register, are new or returning to the college.

Students may take up to 18 hours without special permission during the Fall and Spring semesters and up to . Students must seek special permission from the Vice-President of Student Development to carry an overload of semester hours.

Payment is due at the time of registration.

New Students

New students must be accepted to CFCC before they are eligible to register.  New students are not eligible to register online.  Registration information will be mailed with your acceptance letter.   Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

New students may register in-person, at the Academic Advising Center, during early registration periods or in-person on registration day.  Early registration periods are scheduled in June and July for Fall term and early December for the Spring term.  Students meet with an advisor their first-time registering to establish the correct courses they need for their program of study.   Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods.

Please note that if you are transferring from another school, late receipt of your transcripts may not allow sufficient time to get your transcripts evaluated for necessary pre-requisites and could delay your registration into certain courses.  New students should have all transcripts delivered to CFCC at least two weeks prior to any registration period.

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration.

Returning Students

 Former CFCC students may register for courses during any established early registration periods in the Academic Advising Center or on registration day if they have been absent from CFCC for three years or less.  WebAdvisor is available for a returning students to register online during these times only if you have been absent from CFCC within the past year.  Absences longer than one year will require in-person registration.   Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods.

 Please note that if you have attended another school, since you were last enrolled at CFCC, you will need allow sufficient time to get your transcripts evaluated for necessary pre-requisites.  Failure to have transcripts sent to CFCC in a timely manner could delay your registration into certain courses.  Returning students should have any new transcripts delivered to CFCC at least two weeks prior to any registration period.

If you have been out of CFCC for more than three years, you will need to complete a new online application.  Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration.

Special Credit Students

Students who are 18 years of age or older or have a high school diploma or equivalent but do not wish to enter degree or diploma programs may enter CFCC as “special credit” students.  Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Students admitted as special credit students may carry only a part-time course load.  Special credit students may register part-time (no more than eleven (11) credit hours) in any given semester and no more than eight (8) credit hours during the Summer Session.  Special Credit students may accumulate a total of eighteen (18) credit hours before being required to meet all admission requirements.  Special Credit students must meet all course pre-requisites.

Audit Students

 Students who wish to audit courses must register for the audit by following the regular registration procedures and indicating in writing on an audit form which course(s) they are auditing.  Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods.  Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Auditing students must meet all course pre-requisites. The audit form must be signed by the instructor and turned into the Registrar’s office during the first week of the semester. Auditing students receive no credit and are not required to participate in class discussion or take tests. Fees for audit courses are the same as those taken for credit. Changes from audit to credit or credit to audit may only be done during registration and drop/add periods. Students should be aware that Financial Aid and Veteran benefits do not pay for audit courses. Audit courses do not transfer.

Payment for classes is due at the time of registration.

Faculty and Staff

Employees of CFCC must complete the Admissions process and be admitted to CFCC prior to registering for any courses. Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions.

Employees must register in the Registrar’s Office during the scheduled registration periods.  Check the Academic Calendar for specific registration periods. 

Employees are responsible for any charges beyond the tuition benefit given to CFCC employees.  These charges are payable at the time of registration.

Huskins, Concurrent and Early College Students

Huskins Classes

Huskins classes are CFCC classes that are offered primarily to high school students. These classes may meet at a high school or a CFCC campus. This program is open to all qualifying students who are either 16 years old or a junior or senior at the time of enrollment.

The high school principal or chief academic officer must recommend students and must certify that they are making satisfactory progress toward graduation.

Tuition is waived for fall and spring semesters. Students are responsible for textbooks costs. Students taking Huskins classes that are offered on a CFCC campus are responsible for student activity and technology fees. Students taking Huskins classes that are offered at a high school are exempt from student activity or technology fees.

Huskins classes are not offered during summer sessions.

Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent enrollment allows high school students to take college classes offered in CFCC’s regular schedule of classes.  This program is open to all qualifying high school students who are at least 16 years old and are enrolled at least half-time in high school courses.

Early College High School

Cape Fear Community College has partnered with New Hanover County and Pender County Schools to host two early college high schools.  Pender Early College High School (PECHS) and Wilmington Early College High School (WECHS) provide selected high school students the opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and two years of college transfer credit or an associate degree.  CFCC tuition is waived for fall and spring semesters; however,  fees may apply.   Students may be responsible for textbook costs. 

Registration for classes is coordinated through the Early College Liaison at each campus.

Senior Citizens

Students who are legal residents of North Carolina and have attained the age of 65 and who meet applicable admission standards may enroll tuition-free on a space available basis.    Senior Citizens may take courses for credit or audit courses.   Please review the Admissions process to make sure you have completed the necessary requirements for admissions prior to registration.  Senior Citizens must register in-person the first time to ensure they receive the tuition benefit.   For subsequent registrations, WebAdvisor may be used.  Check the Academic Calendar for registration periods.
