Cape Fear Community College Counseling Services Staff is dedicated to providing current and prospective students with an enriching college experience whether you are a full-time or part-time student.

Counselors are available to assist students with clarifying educational and personal goals and establishing appropriate academic plans and resolving social and personal difficulties.

Counselors will arrange confidential conferences to discuss any concerns, to provide needed guidance and/or to make individual referrals. The goal of our Professional Counselors is to encourage each student's self-development, and to help each student solve problems as they arise. CFCC offers distance learning students counseling services online (click and go online counseling). Counseling services are free-of-charge.

Academic Counseling

For the prospective student at CFCC, Counselors help to plan their program of study, to establish and reach their educational goal(s).  Counselors are available to assist students online or face-to-face as they prepare to enter Cape Fear Community College.

CFCC offers over 60 different programs of study in ten Academic Departments.

To assist you in deciding a program of study you may need to involve our Career Services Office. Career Services has developed an online handout entitled "Making Career Choices" which outlines procedures for making career and educational decisions. Career Services can assist students in making a detailed self-appraisal of interests, abilities and personality traits and build on this information in making a wise career choice. Check out their online self-assessments.

In addition, we provide students with information and guidance regarding educational goal-setting and decision making, selecting a college to transfer to and strategies for academic success. View the following web sites for additional resources.

Personal/Social Counseling

Personal difficulties and emotional strain often have an adverse effect on your quality of life and ability to learn. Counseling can help; matters discussed are held in strict confidence and within the confines of State and Federal law. When appropriate, students may be referred to other professional services on campus or in the community when more specialized assistance is needed.
