General Information About Placement Testing
As part of the admissions process, many applicants must complete a placement test. The placement test is not an “admissions test” that will determine eligibility to attend CFCC. CFCC uses the NCDAP ACCUPLACER placement test. The purpose of the placement test is to place students in appropriate levels of English and Math courses.
The Accuplacer includes sections in English and Math. Students are tested in the various areas depending on their program of study: CPT Required Parts 2019. The Accuplacer is not a pass/fail test. The results aid in course placement and may indicate a need for developmental courses to improve skill level.
This placement information will help the student build a solid foundation for success while attending CFCC. There is no charge for taking the test. The testing schedule is available online. Plan to be on campus approximately 3-4 hours for testing.
Students who have attended college and completed English and/or Math courses with a grade of “C” or better may be waived from taking all or parts of the placement test. Please have any previously attended colleges to send official transcripts to CFCC for evaluation.
In addition, placement test scores are transferable from other schools. If you have taken the ACCUPLACER, ASSET, or COMPASS at another school within the last 5 years, please request that the school send an official copy of the scores to the Admissions Office at CFCC.
If you have taken the ACT or SAT and achieved qualifying scores within the last 5 years, please request that your official scores be sent to CFCC. All test scores are valid for five years.
