AutoCAD Basic/Intermediate
This is a hands-on class that covers the basic and intermediate concepts of AutoCAD software. Students will learn to use the basic drawing and editing commands in AutoCAD to set up, draw, modify and dimension architectural,mechanical and civil drawings.

AutoCAD Advanced
This advanced course of the AutoCAD series will help students create command aliases, customized toolbars, palettes and ribbon panels. Additional advanced commands include attributes, tables, fields and annotative elements.

Auto Safety Control Inspection Certification
This course prepares auto technicians and service personnel as safety and emission inspectors for motor vehicles. It includes regulations and test inspection procedures and is taught to insure that the student understands the rules and regulations can inspect a vehicle properly and can successfully pass qualification exams for certification as a safety and emission inspector at a licensed inspection station.

Auto Safety & OBD Emission Inspection Certification
This course is designed to prepare auto technicians and service personnel as OBD emission inspectors for motor vehicles. Course topics include regulations and test inspection procedures required by the NC DMV – Enforcement Section – OBD emission inspectors. Upon completion a student should understand the rules, regulations and procedures for OBD emission inspections, be able to inspect a vehicle properly and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam.

Aviation Ground School
This course provides Instruction in general airplane knowledge, weather, regulations, and flight planning. Course prepares Individuals to successfully complete training and receive the F.A.A. Private Pilot license. PLEASE NOTE: According to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines, students must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or present an appropriate visa to obtain training. The following documents must be brought to the first class meeting for review by the instructor. If U.S. citizen: U.S. passport OR one of the following: birth certificate; certification of birth abroad with raised seal; certificate of U.S. citizenship with raised seal; certificate of registration; or U.S. naturalization certificate with raised seal, accompanied by government-issued picture ID. If non-U.S. citizen: appropriate visa. Student will also be required to register with TSA, submit fingerprints and photo, and pay additional $130 processing fee to the TSA.

MARINE CAPTAINS

Marine Captain’s License Preparation
This 64-hour course provides students with the information necessary to take the US Coast Guard examination for licensing as an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) up to 100 gross tons, on inland, near coastal. The examination is then administered upon conclusion of the course.

Marine Captain’s Course Examination
This 8-hour session is provided for students who have successfully completed the 64 hour Marine Captain’s Course. It is scheduled on a date shortly following the conclusion of the Captain’s Course for the purpose of taking the US Coast Guard Examination.

Upgrade from Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels to Master
This 24-hour course is provided to enable the holder of a “6 Passenger” OUPV Captain’s license to upgrade to a Master’s level license. The Master’s License is required for inspected vessels certified to carry more that 6 passengers. Upon successful completion of this course, a Certificate of Completion is awarded which is then presented to the Coast Guard as part of the Master’s License issuance process. The subject material covered in the course is in accordance with guidelines set by the U. S. Coast Guard.

Assistance Towing Endorsement
This 4-hour session is provided for students who have attained, or are in the process of obtaining, their U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s or Mate’s License for vessels of 200 gross tons or less. This course serves in lieu of taking an Assistance Towing Endorsement examination at any U.S. Coast Guard Regional Examination Center.

Notary Public Education
This course is required by the State of North Carolina in order to apply to become a Notary. All requirements for becoming a Notary are covered in this course.

This course, also suitable for new teachers and teacher assistants, will increase your confidence in the classroom and will help you to assist students in reaching their goals. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate that proves participation and completion of the course.

Please note: New Hanover and Pender counties have different requirements and expectations for substitute teachers. If you do not have a teaching license, Effective Teacher Training is a requirement for substitute teachers who are hired in New Hanover County. Effective Teacher Training is not sufficient for employment with Pender County Schools, as they only hire certified substitute teachers who have attained a teacher’s license or a teaching degree in education.
