The program also provides information regarding workers\u2019 rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor: Fleet Spell<\/strong> <\/div> <h5 class=\"iwi-target-container2\"> <a href=\"#\"> Weeks 2 &#038; 3: Production &#038; Processes <\/a> <\/h5> <div id=\"container2\" class=\"\"> <h6>October 22, 27, &#038; 29 &#8211; Yellow Belt Training &#8211; 15 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>This course is designed as an introductory course to familiarize participants with the basics of Lean Six Sigma and to be able to participate in a Lean Six Sigma team project. The principles of Lean and Six Sigma are covered along with the DMAIC problem solving methodology. The basic tools of Lean Six Sigma are introduced and demonstrated during a simulation where participants actively gather data, conduct simple analysis of the information and make recommendations on how to eliminate root cause  errors within a process. Cost of poor quality, the Voice of the Customer, the five stages of DMAIC problem solving: define, measure, analyze, improve and control, process mapping and error proofing are demonstrated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor: Kiona Cuthrell<\/strong><\/p>\n<h6>November 3 &#8211; SPC (Statistical Process Control) &#8211; 2 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>Participants learn the elements and purpose, methodology and special cause tests that impact process variation. Discussions on the various types of charts used to analyze process variation are held, identification of common and special causes, control limits and how they are established, the sources of variation, sampling frequency, use of the correct chart for attribute or continuous data, and the rules used in chart analysis to determine problems. Basic SPC can be performed without a computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor: Wes Gubitz<\/strong><\/p>\n<h6>November 3 &#8211; Manufacturing and Production Processes &#8211; 3 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>Concepts covered in this course begin with \u201cWhat is Manufacturing?\u201d and lead the participants through effective use of production processes from raw materials to completed products. This course will also explore the types of manufacturing jobs available in our region from aviation, automotive, food manufacturing, computer chip, textiles, etc. An overview will be made of how raw materials are converted into consumer goods through manufacturing processes from a variety of industries in our region.\n<\/p> <\/div> <h5 class=\"iwi-target-container3\"> <a href=\"#\"> Weeks 4-8: Introduction to Maintenance <\/a> <\/h5> <div id=\"container3\" class=\"\"> <h6>November 5 &#8211; Shop Math\/Precision Measurement &#8211; 5 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>Designed to develop and reinforce the basic math skills needed to maximize performance in the plant environment. These skills will be reinforced and applied through incorporating precision measurement skills and tools, and use of common formulas used in industry.<\/p>\n<h6>November 10 &#8211; Hand Tools\/Small Power Tools &#8211; 5 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>This course covers fundamentals of hand and power tools common to industrial trades.<\/p>\n<h6>November 12 &#8211; Fasteners and Fittings &#8211; 5 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>Introduces types of fasteners and fittings typical to the industrial environment.<\/p>\n<h6>November 17 &#8211; Machine Physics &#8211; 5 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>Designed to teach the fundamentals of force, motion, energy and fluid mechanics as applied in industrial maintenance.<\/p>\n<h6>November 19 &#038; 24 &#8211; Industrial Maintenance &#8211; 10 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>This course provides an overview of the typical responsibilities of maintenance personnel in the industrial environment. Students learn maintenance scenarios and the importance of maintaining quality and machine reliability.<\/p>\n<h6>December 1 &#8211; Power Sources &#8211; 5 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>This course is designed to familiarize the industrial worker with those power sources typical to the industrial environment.<\/p>\n<h6>December 3, 8 &#038; 10 &#8211; Blueprint Reading &#8211; 10 hrs<\/h6>\n<p>Covers fundamental skills for reading blueprints in an industrial plant.
