Wilmington, NC<\/strong> \u2014 Cape Fear Community College, in collaboration with the City of Wilmington Community Development division, is pleased to announce and offer a variety of lead-based paint safety training courses for local contractors and volunteers.<\/p>\n

The primary goal of these training programs is to increase employment opportunities for individuals and grow the labor force of local contractors qualified as a certified renovator and\/or a certified renovation firm that can perform renovation, repair, and painting projects on behalf of the City for homes where lead-based paint hazards are present. <\/p>\n

This training is made possible by a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control grant to the City of Wilmington\u2019s Lead Hazard Reduction \/ Healthy Homes Program. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to partner with the City of Wilmington to provide training that will not only help make our community a safer place but will also create more jobs and grow the existing workforce,\u201d said Erica Talbert, CFCC Associate Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership represents what is possible and can be achieved when there is a genuine desire to provide economic opportunities and safe affordable housing for the residents of Wilmington,\u201d said Suzanne Rogers, City of Wilmington Community Development and Housing Planner.<\/p>\n
