{"id":668,"date":"2021-06-02T11:27:09","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T15:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/continuing-education\/?p=668"},"modified":"2022-11-08T17:02:52","modified_gmt":"2022-11-08T22:02:52","slug":"law-enforcement-students-graduate-from-new-detention-driving-tactics-course-at-cfcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/continuing-education\/2021\/06\/02\/law-enforcement-students-graduate-from-new-detention-driving-tactics-course-at-cfcc\/","title":{"rendered":"Law Enforcement Students Graduate from New Detention Driving Tactics Course at CFCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WILMINGTON, NC<\/strong> \u2014 Cape Fear Community College celebrated the graduation of eight area detention and law enforcement students from its new Detention Driving Tactics course on Friday, May 28, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>This 40-hour Detention Driving Tactics course is designed for detention officers and deputies to drive through various courses to enhance their skill set using cars and vans to transport inmates.<\/p>\n<p>The course instructors have over 40 years of combined teaching experience in law enforcement. \u201cDetention officers are hired with the understanding they are going to work in a confinement setting. However, they can be tasked to take and transport inmates under dangerous circumstances outside the secure confined facility. Oftentimes they do not have the driving skills to do that, so giving them these skills can truly save lives,\u201d said Kathryn Bryan, CFCC detention driving tactics course instructor.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cCape Fear Community College is proud to offer this specialized training for detention officers,\u201d said CFCC Director of Law Enforcement Programs Tim Fuss. \u201cThis is the first time we have offered this course, and to our knowledge, it\u2019s the only one offered in the state.
