{"id":5,"date":"2019-07-01T15:15:27","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T15:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/counseling\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2026-07-28T17:29:46","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T21:29:46","slug":"counseling","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/counseling\/","title":{"rendered":"The Counseling Center"},"content":{"rendered":" <div class=\"text-larger mb-4\"> Our mission is to empower you to improve your academic performance, relationships, and general well-being. <\/div> <p>Reasons you may benefit from speaking with your CFCC counselor:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are feeling stressed or overwhelmed.<\/li>\n<li>You are having difficulty managing your time and priorities.<\/li>\n<li>You have experienced a recent loss.<\/li>\n<li>You are looking for tools to be successful in your courses.<\/li>\n<li>You want to improve your soft skills such as communication styles and boundaries. <\/li>\n<li>You need a safe space to discuss personal worries and concerns.<\/li>\n<li>You are on Academic Probation and need to create an Academic Improvement Plan before registering for classes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All Professional Counseling Staff hold a master\u2019s degree in the counseling field and are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m. on a drop-in basis. Students are also welcome to make appointments.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Confidentiality<\/strong><\/em>: Services provided by CFCC Counseling Staff are confidential in keeping with ethical standards unless a student indicates they are at risk of harming themselves or others.<\/p>\n<p>Counselors are not able to provide clinical mental health counseling, however, they can provide guidance and tools. In addition to the on-campus resources and services we offer, we want all students to be aware of the following opportunities to seek support and assistance in a confidential and caring space. Whether you are experiencing a crisis, feeling overwhelmed, or simply need someone to talk to, these resources are available to support you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To reach the Suicide and Crisis LIfeline, call 988<\/strong> or text HOME to 741741. Using the 988 Lifeline is free. When you call, text, or chat the 988 Lifeline, your conversation is confidential. The 988 Lifeline provides you judgment-free care. Talking with someone can help save your life. Additionally, <strong>To reach the NC Peer Warmline, call 1-855-PEERS-NC  (855-733-7762).<\/strong> The NC Peer Warmline (1-855-PEERS-NC) is a free, private phone number you can call day or night to talk with someone who understands. You\u2019ll be connected to someone who has personal experiences with mental health or substance use disorders. You can call any time you&#8217;re feeling sad, stressed, lonely or just need to talk. You don&#8217;t need to be in crisis to call. <strong>If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or are concerned that someone is at immediate risk of harm, call 911 immediately<\/strong> and ask for a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer, if one is available.  They have special training.  <\/p>\n<p>Your well-being matters to us just as much as your academic success, both inside and outside the classroom.
