
Ms. Margaret Weller-Stargell
Board of Directors, CFCC FoundationMargaret Stargell, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, is a graduate of North Carolina State University. She has been employed at Coastal Horizons Center since 1985, where she began her work counseling. In 1995, she became the agency’s executive director and currently serves as the president and CEO of the corporation.
Coast Horizons Center, Inc., nationally accredited through CARD, provides professional assistance to those needing prevention, crisis intervention, criminal justice alternatives, community outreach, and substance abuse and mental health disorders treatment. The largest private, non-profit human services organization providing behavioral health and primary care services, Coastal Horizons Center is headquartered in Wilmington and serves 53 counties in eastern North Carolina.
Mrs. Weller-Stargell currently serves on the North Carolina Medical Care Commission and was appointed to serve as a member of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Waiver Advisory Committee (DWAC), where she currently serves as chair. She also serves on N.C. Division of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities Services (N.C. DHHS) External Advisory Team, N.C. Practice Improvement Collaborative on Substance Abuse is a member of the Wilmington Downtown Rotary. Margaret Weller-Stargell is the founder and president of the Willie Stargell Foundation, a private non-profit organization that raises money to assist those struggling with kidney disease. Previously, Mrs. Weller-Stargell served on former Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo’s Advisory Council at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) and served on the Board of Trustees of New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC).
