{"id":216,"date":"2019-08-13T09:26:30","date_gmt":"2019-08-13T13:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/financial-aid\/?page_id=216"},"modified":"2025-09-30T12:05:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T16:05:12","slug":"federal-work-study","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/financial-aid\/federal-work-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Work-Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program at Cape Fear Community College is a federally funded initiative based on financial need as determined by their student aid index (SAI) that is designed to assist students in meeting the costs of postsecondary education through part-time employment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>To maintain eligibility for the Federal Work Study (FWS) program, as determined by the Department of Education, work study students must meet the standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards as outlined in the CFCC College Catalog &amp; Handbook. These standards include both qualitative and quantitative requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualitative Standard: Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, including grades from developmental courses.<\/li>\n<li>Quantitative Standard: Students must successfully complete at least 67% of all attempted credits, including developmental courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, students MUST be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours for the duration of the term or semester of employment. Work study students may work no more than twenty (20) hours per week, and employment is contingent on annual funding. Furthermore, students must be in good standing with the college, including, but not limited to, meeting disciplinary and business office requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is assessed after each term or semester.
