First Class of Detention Officers Graduate from Detention Law Institute Course at CFCC

Detention Law InstituteCape Fear Community College celebrated the first graduation of seven detention officers from its new Detention Law Institute course on Friday, October 23, 2020.

CFCC’s Detention Law Institute course consists of 40 hours of instruction modeling after the Police Law Institute course focused on detention related case law, policy development, and search warrant preparation.

“Cape Fear Community College is proud to offer this brand new specialized training course for detention facility personnel,” said CFCC Director of Law Enforcement Programs Tim Fuss. “CFCC continues to expand our partnership with local law enforcement agencies and detention facilities to provide valuable training for a service vital to keeping our community safe.”

Facilities represented in this class were from Pender County Detention Facility and Cleveland County Detention Facility.
