{"id":15,"date":"2019-09-30T14:44:30","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T18:44:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/honors-program\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2024-05-30T13:02:14","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T17:02:14","slug":"frequently-asked-questions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cfcc.edu\/honors-program\/frequently-asked-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Frequently Asked Questions"},"content":{"rendered":" <div class=\"iwi-accordion\"> <h6 class=\"iwi-target-container1\"> <a href=\"#\"> What is the honors program? <\/a> <\/h6> <div id=\"container1\" class=\"\"> <ul>\n<li>An academically rigorous program for high-achieving students<\/li>\n<li>Experience-based program with emphasis on immersive learning<\/li>\n<li>Interdisciplinary program<\/li>\n<\/ul> <\/div> <h6 class=\"iwi-target-container2\"> <a href=\"#\"> What are the benefits of being an honors scholar? <\/a> <\/h6> <div id=\"container2\" class=\"\"> <li>Collaborate with other intellectually motivated students<\/li>\n<li>Experiential learning opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Immersive, hands-on exploration of subjects and topics<\/li>\n<li>More competitive applications for college\/university transfer<\/li>\n<li>Smaller class sizes<\/li>\n<li>Priority registration<\/li> <\/div> <h6 class=\"iwi-target-container3\"> <a href=\"#\"> Who is eligible to apply? <\/a> <\/h6> <div id=\"container3\" class=\"\"> Current College Student: If you are a <strong>current <\/strong>college student with a <strong>3.5 GPA<\/strong> in at least <strong>12 credit hours<\/strong> completed at college level, then you are eligible for the Honors Program.<\/p>\n<p>Recent High School Graduate: If you are a recent high school graduate with a <strong>3.5 GPA(unweighted)<\/strong> or a <strong>3.75 GPA (weighted)<\/strong> in high school, then you are eligible for the Honors Program.<\/p>\n<p>Early College High School: If you are currently enrolled in an early high school college with a <strong>3.5 GPA (unweighted)<\/strong> or a <strong>3.75 GPA (weighted)<\/strong> in high school or a 3.5 GPA  in at least <strong>12 credit hours<\/strong> completed at the college level, then you are eligible for the Honors Program.<\/p>\n<p>Career and College Promise (Dual Enrollment): If you are currently in high school and taking college courses through a Career and College Promise program with a <strong>3.5 GPA (unweighted)<\/strong> or a <strong>3.75 GPA (weighted)<\/strong> in high school <strong>or <\/strong>a <strong>3.5 GPA<\/strong>  in at least <strong>12 credit hours<\/strong> completed at college level, then you are eligible for the Honors Program.<\/p>\n<p>College students must be enrolled in the college transfer track to participate in the honors program.\n<\/p> <\/div> <h6 class=\"iwi-target-container4\"> <a href=\"#\"> I\u2019m in a vocational program, why am I not eligible for the honors program? <\/a> <\/h6> <div id=\"container4\" class=\"\"> With the specific courses that are required for each of the different vocation and health science programs, and the strict timeline required of those students, it is hard to design a course schedule that will benefit those students. The point system that is utilized to direct our competitive admissions for those programs doesn\u2019t allow for any benefit of taking honors classes either.
