Course Information

Certified Wireless Networking Professional Academy

Learn about wireless connections and networking! Students have the opportunity to complete courses that help them earn the following in demand industry certifications in a hybrid fashion.

CWS® – Certified Wireless Specialist
The Certified Wireless Specialist (CWS) is a certification that validates the knowledge of wireless sales, marketing, entry-level support, and decision-making professionals related to 802.11 wireless networks.

The learning materials explain the language of Wi-Fi as well as the typical hardware and software used in wireless local area networks (WLANs). From radio frequency (RF) to Wi-Fi client devices, the CWS learns the terminology and processes of Wi-Fi.

Becoming a CWS:

The CWS certification is an entry-level WLAN certification from the vendor neutral CWNP organization that brought you CWNA and other advanced certifications. To earn the CWS certification, you must pass an online exam with a score of 70% or higher. Those desiring to work as instructors teaching CWS classes must pass with a score of 80% or higher. Regardless of the way you choose to prepare for the CWS exam, you should start with the exam objectives, which cover the full list of knowledge tested on the exam. The CWS is a three-year certification, and it is renewed by passing the most recent version of the CWS exam again.

CWS-100 Learning Objectives:

  • Understand Basic RF Hardware and Functions – 15% of exam
  • Identify 802.11 Features and Functions – 30% of exam

CWT® – Certified Wireless Technician
The Certified Wireless Technician (CWT) is an individual who can install Aps based on a design document, configure the AP for initial operations, and ensure connectivity. The individual can troubleshoot basic problems and assist users in person or through remote communications in problem resolution. The ability to configure a WLAN client for connectivity is paramount with an understanding of the configuration process for SSIDs, security settings, and other client adapter settings.

This individual is not responsible for WLAN design, analysis, or security design; however, the CWT should be able to gather information from a design specification document to properly configure an AP and troubleshoot individual connection issues. The CWT may not be aware of the actual WLAN architectural design, the RF design, or the full feature set in use to implement the WLAN.

CWNA® – Certified Wireless Network Administrator
A strong foundation you can build upon.

Get a head start right out of the gate with a Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) certification. It is the base certification for Enterprise Wi-Fi within the CWNP family of certifications and a springboard toward earning your security, design, analysis, and network expert certifications.

Do you have an understanding of the fundamentals of wireless technology? Do you know how WLAN works and how it is managed day-to-day? Do you have the ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain wireless networks within small business or Enterprise deployments?

As the demand for wireless continues to grow, so does the need for certified network administrators.

What it takes to become a CWNA:

The CWNA certification is a foundational level wireless LAN certification for the CWNP Program. To earn a CWNA certification, you must take the CWNA exam and pass with a 70% or higher. Instructors must pass with an 80% or higher. However you choose to prepare for the CWNA exam, you should start with the exam objectives which cover the full list of skills tested on the exam. By doing so, the CWNA will be renewed for another three (3) years. Or retake the current version of the CWNA exam.
