Students that successfully pass the courses in this pathway are able to transfer these courses into the CFCC Automotive Systems Technology program for further education and training.<\/p>\n<h4>Program Location:<\/h4>\n<p>Classes are held at Pender High School.<\/p>\n<h4>Automotive Mechanics Pathway Courses:<\/h4>\n<hr> <div class=\"bg-light p-4\"> <h6>Automotive Service:<\/h6>\n<p>This course is designed to cover work-place safety, hazardous material, environmental regulations, hand tools, service information, basic concepts, vehicle systems and common transportation industry terminology. Topics include familiarization with major vehicle systems, proper use of various hand and power tools, material safety data sheets, and personal protective equipment. Emphasis is placed on shop operations, troubleshooting, testing, adjusting, repairing, and replacing components using appropriate test equipment and service information.<\/p>\n<p>This course is transferable as TRN 110 Intro to Transport Tech and AUT 213 Automotive Servicing 2.\n<\/p> <\/div> <hr> <div class=\"bg-light p-4\"> <h6>Brake Systems:<\/h6>\n<p>This course is designed to cover principles of operation and types, diagnosis, service, and repair of brake systems. Topics include drum and disc brakes involving hydraulic, vacuum boost, hydra-boost, electrically powered boost, and anti-lock and parking brake systems. Upon completion, students should be able to diagnose, service, and repair various automotive braking systems.<\/p>\n<p>This course is transferable as AUT 151 Brake Systems and AUT 151A Brake Systems Lab\n<\/p> <\/div> <hr> <div class=\"bg-light p-4\"> <h6>Suspension and Steering Systems:<\/h6>\n<p>This course is designed to cover principles of operation, types, and diagnosis\/repair of suspension and steering systems to include steering geometry. Topics include manual and power steering systems and standard and electronically controlled suspension and steering systems. Upon completion, students should be able to identify steering and suspension problems, service and repair steering and suspension components, check and adjust alignment angles, and repair and balance tires.<\/p>\n<p>This course is transferable as AUT 141 Suspension and Steering Systems and AUT 141A Suspension and Steering Lab\n<\/p> <\/div> <hr>\n<h4  class=\"problem-titles\">The Career Technical Education\/Workforce Development Pathway (CTE\/WCEP):<\/h4>\n<p>Tuition free course hours that lead to technician education certificate, State, or Industry Recognized Credential aligned with a high school career cluster.
