Gain an understanding of and appreciation for Wilmington’s historic homes and buildings! <\/div>

Cape Fear Community College, together with the Historic Wilmington Foundation <\/a> , is offering Historic Preservation Trades courses to meet the needs of the historic home and business owners in our community.<\/p>\n\n

Courses<\/h4>\n

Note: Dates are tentative and subject to change.<\/em><\/p>

HISTORIC CONSTRUCTION ESSENTIALS \u2013 96 HOURS<\/h6>\n

The course is designed to teach students how to properly renovate historical homes and small commercial units with a preservation approach. Students will be able to identify different styles of historic materials and methods used to construct them. Students will learn a full comprehension of interior and exterior value and how to preserve them as well as understand the architecture of Wilmington and its historic districts. Take field trips to local historic homes and buildings to gain an understanding of and appreciation for Wilmington’s historic community. Certifications<\/h6>\n

Upon completion, students will earn a certificate in Historic Preservation Construction from Cape Fear Community College as well as their OSHA 10 Construction Certification. <\/p>\n

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for carpenters was $48,330 in May 2019. <\/p>\n
