The Radiography Program is a five-semester, full-time program beginning each year\u2019s Fall Semester. Classes are held face-to face at the downtown campus. The program\u2019s clinical education component is conducted in various hospitals and other medical facilities affiliated with Cape Fear Community College. <\/p>\n

Collectively the clinical affiliates provide a sufficient number and variety of radiographic procedures to offer students a well-balanced, supervised clinical experience. Hours for clinical rotations are generally from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm (varies). During the program\u2019s second year, students will rotate three to four weeks through the weekend and weeknight shifts (2:00 pm to 10:30 pm). The entire semester clinical schedule will be provided before the beginning of each semester. Clinical sites are located up to 60 miles from the CFCC downtown campus. Transportation to and from these sites is the student\u2019s responsibility. Program staff will not make exceptions or adjustments in clinical assignments based upon traveling distance. Clinical attendance is mandatory.<\/p>\n

Note: Vaccinations, a cleared criminal background check and clean drug screen are required for all clinical sites on an annual basis. Specifics on fees and procedures are found in the admission packet.<\/p>\n

In the second year, students have opportunities to rotate into other modalities (for observation only) such as CT, MRI, Radiation Therapy and Mammography. These observations are scheduled for one week rotation per semester.<\/p>\n

All clinical sites are affiliated with Cape Fear Community College by contract and are approved by the program\u2019s accreditation the JRCERT. They make the ultimate decision if a student is approved to rotate to their site. If a student is not cleared or permitted to attend one clinical site, for any reason, then the student will not progress in the program. Reasons for not being approved to attend a site(s) may include criminal background, drug screen, not meeting vaccination requirements, and any other reason deemed as such by the site.<\/p>\n
