The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) <\/a> is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records. These rights transfer to the student when they reach the age of 18 or attend a school beyond the high school level. If a student is attending classes at CFCC \u2013 at any age \u2013 the FERPA rights transfer to the student. If the student is enrolled in both a high school and a college, the two schools may exchange information on that student. If the student is under 18, the parents still retain the rights under FERPA at the high school, but not at the college.<\/p>\n

Student Accessibility Services will always protect student privacy and not speak with persons from outside of the college about any academic information unless permission has been received from the student allowing the communication. In order for the Student Accessibility Services office staff to be permitted to communicate with anyone other than the student, a Student Disclosure Request must be completed by the student through the Registrar’s Office <\/a> .<\/p>\n
