Pharmacy Technology
The Pharmacy Technology AAS Degree curriculum prepares individuals to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing healthcare and medications to patients. Beginning in 2020, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) will require formal education and training from an accredited program before applicants take the certification exam.
This means that students desiring national certification MUST enroll in a training program. Our program is accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and is also an official training site for sterile compounding by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), the credentialing agency for pharmacy technicians.
Pharmacy Technology students had a 100% pass rate on their certification exam this year and for the past 22 years. We have 20 clinical sites in New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties. Our students graduate with their PTCB certification as well as a shortened time for advanced certification in sterile compounding (with our program they only have a 1-year work requirement compared to 4 years without the course).
Our pharmacy program partners with PioneerRx to enhance our curriculum with a hands-on approach in learning that simulates the functions and workflow of today’s most innovative pharmacies. For more information, visit https://www.pioneerrx.com/ .
