Student Life & Engagement at the Nixon Leaders Center
Fuel Your Vision. Shape Your Journey.
At Cape Fear Community College, the Nixon Leaders Center serves as the central hub for Student Life and Engagement, providing a dynamic space where students can connect, grow, and prepare for success beyond the classroom. Student Life at the Nixon Leaders Center is dedicated to supporting the educational and professional aspirations of students by creating opportunities that encourage involvement, leadership development, and meaningful campus engagement.
Through a wide range of co-curricular programs and resources, the center works to increase completion of developmental coursework, student retention, transfer readiness, and graduation rates. Students who engage with the Nixon Leaders Center gain access to mentorship, financial literacy programs, lunch-and-learn sessions, and educational and professional development opportunities designed to help them reach their academic and career goals.
As the home of Student Life and Engagement, the Nixon Leaders Center at Cape Fear Community College provides oversight for the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and more than 40 student clubs and organizations, offering students numerous opportunities to get involved, develop leadership skills, and build lasting connections.
The center also hosts a variety of large-scale campus traditions and programs, including Orientation, Welcome Week, Speaker Series, Student Celebrations and Events, and the Annual Student Awards Ceremony, all designed to strengthen campus community, celebrate CFCC students, and enrich the overall college experience.
By expanding access to mentorship, networking, civic engagement, and professional growth opportunities, the Nixon Leaders Center helps students fuel their vision for success and actively shape their college journey.
Through Student Life and Engagement, students gain increased exposure to:
- Mentorship that supports personal and academic growth
- Educational opportunities that reinforce learning outside the classroom
- Professional development and professionalism skills for future careers
- Civic engagement opportunities that encourage community involvement
- Networking experiences with peers, faculty, and professionals
Together, these initiatives create a supportive learning environment where students are empowered to develop leadership skills, pursue their goals, and confidently move toward graduation and beyond.
