Pharmacy Technology Program Mission

The primary mission of the Pharmacy Technology programs is to train competent pharmacy technicians for employment in the hospital and community pharmacies in the service area. Toward the completion of this mission, the program carries out the following functions:

  1. Provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical training
  2. Maintains the simulated pharmacy laboratory
  3. Maintains the curriculum and outcome objectives according to the standards and guidelines set by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Pharmacy Technology Advisory Committee
  4. Provides academic counseling, career counseling, recruitment, and job placement assistance
  5. Coordinates and supervises the clinical rotations in area hospitals and ambulatory pharmacy practice sites
