Criminal Justice Technology

The criminal justice program prepares students for employment in the areas of police, courts, or corrections. Some of the students enter the job market directly after graduation and others transfer to senior colleges and universities to pursue a four-year degree.

Criminal Justice Technology Degree Program

The Criminal Justice Technology curriculum is designed with a core of courses to afford one the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge, skills and attitudes in the generally accepted subject areas associated with a two-year study of law enforcement services. It includes subjects such as interpersonal communications, law, psychology and sociology.

In addition to core subjects, the correctional services option provides an opportunity to study other generally accepted subjects indigenous to a correctional services program such as confinement facility administration, correctional law, counseling, probation-parole services and rehabilitation options.

Similarly, the law enforcement provides an opportunity to study other generally accepted subjects included in a law enforcement services program such as criminal behavior, criminal investigation, patrol operation, traffic management, and other aspects of law enforcement administration and operations. The security services provides an opportunity to study other generally accepted subjects related to a security services program such as accident prevention and safety management, common carrier protection, fire prevention, private security, industrial security, retail security, security systems and surveillance.

Job opportunities are available with federal, state, county and municipal governments. In addition, knowledge, skills and attitudes acquires in this course of study qualify one for job opportunities with private enterprise in such areas as industrial, retail and private security.
