Hurricane Michael Closing
Cape Fear Community College will be closed on Thursday, October 11th at all campus locations for students, faculty and staff in anticipation of inclement weather resulting from Hurricane Michael.
The College anticipates reopening on Friday, October 12th, after the storm passes.
All events at all CFCC locations, as well as student events, athletic events, practices and related activities have been canceled.
Other important information:
CFCC will provide information and updates on the CFCC website, social media sites, at the CFCC Emergency Information hotline (1-877-799-2322), and to local news media outlets.
GED® Test Preparation and Adult Basic Skills Classes Students can take classes that will help them improve their reading, writing and math skills to obtain a high school diploma, pass the GED® Test, or get a job. We also offer the GED Ready™ Official Practice Tests and are an official GED® Test Center. The Diploma Exam Preparation program helps students who do not have a high school diploma prepare for the GED® Test. The GED® Test has 4 parts:
- Reasoning through Language Arts
- Social Studies
All classes are FREE and offer GED Ready™ Official Practice Tests at no cost to eligible students. Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are also available to help students who want to improve their basic academic and employability skills.
Classes are offered at CFCC’s downtown campus, North Campus, Burgaw Center, online and in other convenient locations throughout New Hanover and Pender Counties.
Registration Schedule for High School Equivalency Exam Prep Classes
All students must bring a picture ID with birth date and signature and Social Security card to register for the program. Minors must also bring a school withdrawal form, a notarized parental consent form, and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All forms can be found in links below.

*Official school withdrawal form must be from last school district attended:
*Pender County students must have their withdrawal form signed by their school officials and the Pender County Superintendent/Designee located at Pender County Board of Education.
*All other students must have their withdrawal form signed by their county or district superintendent.
