Boat Building School
At Cape Fear Community College
Located in historic downtown Wilmington, North Carolina along the Cape Fear River, CFCC's boat building school offers two programs designed to teach students the fundamentals to work in the boat building and repair industry. The programs focus on hands-on training in traditional and modern boat construction, repair, and mechanical system maintenance. Graduates will have the skills needed to work for companies in boat building, boat repair or woodworking.
"Having experience every day in the shop really gave me the confidence and skills to be successful in boat building and in wood working. The carpentry aspect of boat building applies to many other fields which I hope to explore as a graduate."
Trey Tyson
As non-traditional, older student I was apprehensive about going back to school. However, after I started I was made to feel right at home in the program. From the first day of sharpening chisels to completing boats and fine furniture, the boat building program has opened my eyes to capabilities I never knew I had."
Bruce McKenzie
"Excellent program! Gained many new skills in problem solving, tools of the trade, building techniques, teamwork, and lofting. This program and the faculty involved were also a great help in working with me to achieve my future goals."
