Program Description
- Trains individuals to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing healthcare and medications to patients
- Full-time, one year diploma program
- Day-time classes
- Classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and practical experience in five different area pharmacies
Program Mission
The primary mission of the Pharmacy Technology program is to train competent pharmacy technicians for employment in the hospital and community pharmacies in the service area. Toward the completion of this mission, the program carries out the following functions:
- Provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical training
- Maintains the simulated pharmacy laboratory
- Maintains the curriculum and outcome objectives according to the standards and guidelines set by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Pharmacy Technology Advisory Committee
- Provides academic counseling, career counseling, recruitment, and job placement assistance
- Coordinates and supervises the clinical rotations in area hospitals and ambulatory pharmacy practice sites
Admission Requirements
- Complete the CFCC General Admission Application (May be completed online)
- Apply to the Pharmacy Technology program in person at the Admissions office
- Have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher in all post-secondary courses taken in the last 3 years at CFCC
- Complete appropriate Placement Tests, if required by the Admissions Office and meet the minimum cut-off scores
- Request official high school transcripts or GED scores be sent to the Admissions Office
- Request official transcripts from all colleges or schools attended since high school be sent to the Admissions Office
