Practical Nursing Program

Practical Nursing is a career in which the individual practices the art of nursing under the direction of a qualified health professional.  The practical nurse is a valuable member of the health care team who is active in the promotion of health, prevention of disease, and care of the sick.

The Practical Nursing certificate program is full-time and twelve months in length. It prepares the student to provide direct client care in all settings where nursing takes place under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician or licensed dentist. The graduate will participate in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in cooperation with other members of the health care team. Upon graduation students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensing examination. The Practical Nursing Program is approved by the State Board of Nursing of North Carolina.
