CFCC Student Art Takes First Place at State Art Exhibit

Wilmington, NC – The artwork of Cape Fear Community College student artist Bella Sollosi took first place in the 2021 North Carolina Community College System Office (NCCCS) Student Art Exhibit this past Friday, June 4, 2021.

Sollosi’s oil-on-canvas painting, “Sunbathing,” which was handpicked by healthcare educators in the greater Fayetteville area to be a part of the 2021 NCCCS art exhibit, won first place among over 30 pieces from student artists across North Carolina.

“We are honored to have our selection, “Sunbathing” by Bella Sollosi, win first place in the 2021 NCCCS Student Art Exhibition. This painting represents the breadth of skill that our students are capable of possessing, the high level of instruction that our faculty deliver, and the strength of our AFA-Visual Arts program,” said CFCC Dean of Arts and Humanities Brandon Guthrie. “We are truly proud to have this system-wide recognition.”

“CFCC has incredibly talented students, faculty, and staff,” said CFCC President Jim Morton. “This award reflects time and energy devoted to honing technical skills and developing natural talent. I am continually amazed by the quality of work produced by our student artists.”

The virtual display, dedicated to North Carolina healthcare workers, features the work of 30 student artists from colleges across the state. The virtual exhibit, hosted by The Art Gallery at Fayetteville Community College, will be open through Aug. 21, 2021.
