Take one of our Career Discovery classes to get the entry-level skills and employability tips needed to land the job. Leave the class with an up-to-date resume, great interview skills, and the National Career Readiness Certificate.

Class fees are waived for anyone who is unemployed, underemployed or has received notification of pending layoff.

Part 1: Human Services Exploration (45 hours)

(This class is a pre-requisite to the Income Maintenance Caseworker class.) This course covers skills and strategies designed to provide employability skills training and career exploration for the role of Income Maintenance Casework within the Division of Social Services agencies. The National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) is required. The $42 for the NCRC tests is not eligible for the fee waiver.


Part 2: Income Maintenance Caseworker – NCFAST (48 hours)

This course is designed to cover a variety of skills associated with the Income Maintenance Caseworker role to determine services eligibility. Specific focus will include proficiency in the utilization of the NCFAST application. Other topics will include skills in communication, interviewing, time management, data gathering/compiling, and data analysis.


Roadmap to Employment Re-entry (12 hours)

This one-week course helps rebuild confidence, explore career options, and to identify a job network. Learn to write a resume and cover letter – and practice skills to ace a job interview.


911 Telecommunicator (56 hours)

This course is designed to support people that have gaps in their employment history. This course focuses on individuals who are seeking to return to the workforce but may not have the best background. Students will know how to answer questions related to past mistakes and/or gaps in employment. This course is designed to help students with all facets of re-entering the workforce. The students will work on updating their resumes and conveying that they are ready to reenter the workforce.


Computers at a Glance (24 hours)

This slow-paced instruction class provides students with a foundational knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, desktop icons, tab organization, common keys, short cuts, and internet browsing tools (using multiple windows) to research companies and to create, save, send, and share targeted resumes and cover letters.


English Language in the Workplace (18 hours)

This class includes job search, resume writing, interviewing, and goal setting skills training, and workplace communication in reading and writing. This course is a great fit for students wanting to extend their studies beyond ESL classes.


Employment Prep 101 – 30 Hours

This course is designed to assist individuals with determining their goals and interests in an effort to reach successful employment. Students will learn about conflict resolution techniques, problem-solving strategies and how to work within a team. Course work will include goal setting, employability skills, and steps to take to further one’s education. This is a contact hour class so topics are discussed then students are encouraged to work independently and at their pace on the related exercises.


Introduction to Medical Receptionist (48 hours)

Prepare for the office environment where professionalism, privacy, customer service, and teamwork are major assets.


Manufacturing Career (12 Hours)

CFCC’s three (3) day Manufacturing Career Discovery class is a great way to explore the opportunities available in the local manufacturing industry.
