Where are you originally from?
I am originally from the Philippines, which is located in Southeast Asia. I immigrated to Kentucky in third grade and grew up there until I moved here last year.
Why did you decide to enroll at CFCC? Why did it make sense for you?
I chose CFCC for two main reasons. One, it was a better fit for my budget, especially as an out-of-state student. I took advantage of the many scholarship opportunities CFCC offered. And two, it offered the program of my choice that some colleges and universities do not provide.
Can you tell us about your experience at CFCC, including your major, any achievements, participation in student activities, etc.?
I am a first-year student in the Radiography program, and it has been nothing less than wonderful. Each of my professors does a remarkable job of guiding me to be the best healthcare professional that I can be. I’ve also grown fond of the people going through the program with me.
Furthermore, I currently serve as the President of the International Club. The club oversees activities in the Siegfried & Louise Goodman International Center. My favorite thing about being part of this is just getting to be around such a culturally diverse group of people and learning about different countries based on their personal experiences.
What are your plans after graduating from CFCC?
After graduating from CFCC, I plan to move forward and enroll at UNC-Chapel Hill for a post-radiography certificate for Radiation Therapy.
What made you want to pursue that career path/attend that four-year university?
It wasn’t until I worked at a nursing home during high school that I realized that pursuing a career in caring for people is what I would like to do. I felt that the healthcare field would be where my personality would thrive best, and I wouldn’t mind spending my time making a difference in others’ lives.
How has CFCC helped prepare you for your next step?
The CFCC Radiography program allows students to start earning clinical hours at the beginning of their first year. After only one semester, I have become a much more competent healthcare worker and have grown comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with real patients.
What advice would you give someone considering studying at CFCC?
Don’t underestimate what CFCC can do for you. Take advantage of the wide variety of programs and other resources they offer because they are designed to help you advance your goals and improve the community you live in.
