CFCC Women’s Soccer Team Headed to NJCAA National Tournament
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is proud to announce that the Women’s Soccer team is heading to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII Women’s Soccer Championship in Tucson, Arizona. The Sea Devils finished their season with an undefeated 11-0-1 record.
After defeating conference rivals, the Wake Tech Eagles, for the Region 10 Conference Championship title, CFCC hosted Pensacola State on October 28 and finished the match with a 1-0 victory. This marks the third consecutive time that the Sea Devils Women’s Soccer program has qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament.
“The Pensacola State game was the most intense game we played this season, but every single player on our team was ready to go,” said Women’s Soccer Coach C.W. Ponton. “Our goal this season was to qualify for the national tournament, so it’s great to see our hard work and mental toughness pay off.”
“We are incredibly proud of our women’s soccer team for their outstanding achievement in qualifying for the national tournament,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “T dedication and teamwork they have demonstrated this year on and off the field is to be applauded. We will be cheering for them as they represent CFCC on the national stage and continue to make us proud.”
The NJCAA DII Women’s Soccer Championship bracket and tournament seeding will be announced on Tuesday, November 7, via the NJCAA Network. Cape Fear will compete in Tucson’s first round of tournament play on Sunday, November 12. All games will be streamed on the NJCAA Network at njcaa.org/network.
