Laken has an extensive background working in higher education. She earned both her bachelor’s degrees in Communication Studies and English, and her master’s in English Literature from UNC Wilmington. During graduate school, she worked with the English Language Center on campus, where she supported international students in acclimating to college life in the United States.

During this time, Laken also served as an adjunct professor in UNC Wilmington’s English department, teaching Writing for Career Essentials. In the course, she helped students create reliable résumés, understand the importance of cover letters, and even set up their own LinkedIn accounts. This experience not only gave her valuable insights into the inner workings of a college classroom but also provided her with the opportunity to assist students in taking the next steps to excel in the workforce.

Most recently, she worked at High Point University as their Global Education Coordinator. In this role, she helped increase students’ intercultural competence through study abroad programs. She collaborated closely with both faculty and third-party providers to ensure that students would have authentic experiences with local cultures and the confidence to explore the world around them. Additionally, Laken provided students with extensive insight into various countries and cultures through her own background in international travel.

Laken’s experience in higher education and her dedication to creating a positive student experience are valuable assets to the CCP team. She looks forward to using her knowledge to support our dual-enrolled students.
