Alumni Spotlight: Jordan John – From CFCC to Salesforce Success
Jordan John, a 2019 graduate of Cape Fear Community College (CFCC), has built an impressive career with tech giants like Oracle and Salesforce. After earning an Associate of Arts at CFCC, Jordan transferred to UNC Chapel Hill, where he graduated with a double major in Economics and Management and Society. Today, he serves as an Account Executive at Salesforce, working with businesses in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia regions to drive digital transformation.
Building a Foundation at CFCC
Jordan’s path wasn’t always clear.
“I took a gap year after high school to figure out what I wanted,” he recalls. “CFCC became the foundation I needed to move forward with confidence and set me up for everything that followed.”
It wasn’t just academics that shaped Jordan’s time at CFCC—he also learned valuable life skills as a member of the basketball team. “Listening and learning were two of the most important things I took from CFCC. They’re skills I use every day in my personal and professional life,” Jordan says.
Entering the Tech World
Jordan’s interest in tech and sales was driven by his desire to work with people and provide value. “The experiences I had at CFCC sparked my curiosity and set me on the path to a career in tech,” he says. “Those early interactions at CFCC helped shape how I approach my work at companies like Oracle and Salesforce.”
One of his proudest career moments came when he was recognized as a high performer at Salesforce. Jordan credits his success to the relationships he has built over the years. “Building authentic connections has been a key to my success, and that’s something I started learning during my time at CFCC,” he shares.
Advice for Current Students
Jordan is passionate about helping the next generation of CFCC students. His biggest piece of advice?
“Find mentors who have been where you want to go. I’ve built relationships through LinkedIn and other networks, and those connections have been crucial to my growth,” he says.
Jordan also wants to give back to CFCC by helping students bridge the gap between community college and the tech industry. “Whether it’s through career conversations or resume reviews, I’d love to get involved in any way I can,” he adds.
Looking Toward the Future
As Jordan continues to succeed at Salesforce, he’s also thinking ahead. “I plan to keep progressing in my current role, but eventually, I want to start my own business. I’m not sure exactly what it will be yet, but I know I want to create something meaningful,” he says.
