CFCC Summer Semester Ends with Enrollment Surge

Wilmington, NC (August 11, 2025) – Cape Fear Community College concluded its Summer 2025 semester on July 28, closing out a term marked by a substantial increase in enrollment. Preliminary numbers indicate a total of 5,904 students were enrolled in summer classes, a 22% surge in curriculum students compared to Summer 2024’s enrollment. Of those, over 1,120 were new to the college, reflecting strong retention and effective outreach to new learners.
“We are thrilled to see such strong growth in our summer enrollment,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This momentum is a direct reflection of the outstanding work CFCC is doing to support and retain our students while continuing to deliver the high-quality education our community expects and deserves.”
This growth can be attributed in part to the college’s expanded offering of online courses, which continue to meet the demand for flexibility among students balancing work, family, and education. By providing a robust online infrastructure, CFCC has enabled more students to pursue their studies on a schedule that works for them, eliminating barriers such as transportation and time constraints that often hinder academic progress during the summer months.
Equally important to this success is CFCC’s ongoing focus on student support and retention. The college has prioritized wraparound services designed to help students stay focused and reach their educational goals. From academic advising to tutoring and career counseling, CFCC provides a network of support and services to help students stay on track.
