CFCC to Host Machining Career Discovery Night on October 13

Wilmington, NC (September 29, 2025) – Cape Fear Community College invites current and prospective students to a Machining Career Discovery Night. The event will include hands-on exploration and insight into a high-demand trade. The event will take place on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at CFCC’s North Campus (4500 Blue Clay Road) in the NB Building.
Whether you want to consider a new career path or are looking to gain skills that lead directly to local job opportunities, this event offers a firsthand look at CFCC’s machining labs, the opportunity to meet the instructors, and gain valuable career information.
“Machining is at the core of countless industries, and the need for skilled professionals has never been greater,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “Career Discovery Night offers a valuable chance for individuals to explore how they can prepare locally for a rewarding career with strong earning potential and lasting opportunities for growth.”
CFCC’s Computer Integrated Machining Program is designed with local industry in mind, working closely with partners such as the Cape Fear Manufacturing Partnership, GE Hitachi, MAGroup, Rulmeca, and Master Maching, Inc. These partnerships ensure that students graduate with the skills needed to thrive in real-world manufacturing environments.
Additionally, CFCC is proud to participate in America’s Cutting Edge (ACE), a national initiative in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI). As part of this initiative, CFCC offers in-person CNC machining sessions that blend practical skills with innovative training approaches.
