WILMINGTON, NC (March 18, 2026) – The North American tour of MAMMA MIA! has just completed a two-week technical rehearsal period at CFCC’s Wilson Center, topping it off with a sold-out three-performance run from March 5–7.

The MAMMA MIA! production team arrived in Wilmington on February 23 and kicked off their “tech week,” coordinating lighting, sound, set design, costumes, and scene changes with the performers. During this period, the cast and crew worked closely with the Wilson Center’s technical staff to ensure the show was stage-ready for audiences beyond Wilmington.

“Watching our stagehands interact with Broadway designers and really get a sense of the design process was an exceptional experience that many technicians only rarely get to have,” said Robert Coluccio, Production Manager at the Wilson Center.

Ash Black, Production Manager at the Wilson Center, added, “As a road house venue, you don’t get to experience the creative or directive side of theater very often, so it was interesting to see the creatives make tweaks and adjustments. I’m most proud of the tech crew who have worked long and hard to help this tour succeed. Everyone on this team has gone above and beyond while keeping a positive attitude. I feel very blessed to get to work with such talent and professionalism every day.”

During the rehearsal period, the Wilson Center also collaborated with Cape Fear Community College’s theater program by hosting backstage tours for students. During these tours, students gained rare insight into the technical processes involved in a Broadway production and had the opportunity to ask questions and observe the crew in action.

Several of these students were also invited to attend an exclusive invitation-only dress rehearsal on March 4, where over 100 guests from Wilmington’s art community received an intimate preview of the show before opening night.

Rhapsody Stanton, a CFCC Fine Arts student who attended both the backstage tour and dress rehearsal, described the experience as inspiring. “Being able to see everything behind the scenes made it even more special when I got to see the preview. It showed how much work and dedication go into giving the audience a magical experience…the hard work that goes unnoticed is what makes the show unforgettable.”

All three performances of MAMMA MIA! sold out, welcoming a total of more than 4,000 audience members. CFCC’s Wilson Center celebrates the opportunity to be a part of such an experience and looks forward to continuing its role as one of the region’s premier facilities for Broadway tours. Executive Director Zach Pluer praised the team and community for helping make opportunities like this possible, “I’m so proud of our team and the entire community for continuing to build our national reputation as a state-of-the-art facility with top-notch staff and welcoming audiences. The entire entertainment industry is taking notice of the very special culture that is happening right here in Wilmington. When you put artists and fans first, great opportunities like this and the Leanne Morgan Netflix Taping continue to come our way. We can’t wait to answer the next call.”
